Launceston 1 and Taroona are early pacesetters while Glenorchy, Burnie and Hobart Lions all enjoyed Round 1 wins to kickstart the 2024 TRU Men's season.

Launceston 1 rolled over northern rivals Devonport with left winger Leone Vonoyauyau scoring four tries in a 76-12 rout at Royal Park.

It was a day out for the Tiger's back three with fullback Kyle Lombard bagging a hat-trick and right winger Salisio Naisorotabua scoring two of his own in the 64-point win.

Taroona also piled on the points against Eastern Suburbs with winger George Chaperon-Tucker and number eight Jordan Eddington scoring four tries apiece in a 129-7 win at North Warrane Oval.

Glenorchy trio Haare Tumai, Oliver Hays and Josevata Ranuve crossed for doubles in the Stags' 47-8 win over Hobart Harlequins on the road while Burnie were made to work by a dogged University outfit but came away with five competition points after pulling away to a 55-27 victory at Emu Park.

Hobart Lions also impressed in Round 1 with a 22-19 bonus-point win over Launceston 2 at Royal Park.
